Dear Younger Me

I wish I could sit beside you for a moment, not to warn you or change anything, but just to tell you: you are going to be okay. Even though you don’t have all the answers right now, it’s okay, you don’t need to. You’re doing the best you can with what you know…and that’s more than enough.

I know things feel confusing sometimes and life could become a bit overwhelming. You’ll grow up and go through things you never imagined…abandonment, betrayal, rejection, condemnation, depression, resentment, anxiety, hopelessness. You’ll love deeply…you’ll hurt deeply too. You’ll try to understand who you are and where you belong. Let me tell you something you won’t fully believe yet …you are going to be just fine. In fact, you’re going to be more than okay because the things that make you different will become your strengths… just stay true to yourself.

You’ll make mistakes, take wrong turns, you’ll question your worth and find yourself in moments that feel like endings, but they won’t be and none of those moments define you. What does define you, is your strength, your capacity to grow, and your openness to love again, even when it’s hard.

Every betrayal, every setback, every delay, every rejection, every heartbreak, every time you think you’ve failed, they’ll all be chapters in a much bigger story. The things that feel like setbacks now will shape you into someone strong, compassionate, understanding, thoughtful, and resilient.

You’ll fall in love…more than once…and while that might sound scary now, know this: every experience will shape you, every love, every loss, every lesson will carve out space in your heart, not just for others, but for yourself. Each of those relationships will bring their own lessons , about love, about boundaries, about who you are and who you’re becoming…and from two of those chapters will come the most beautiful parts of your life…your children. Two precious souls…each one will arrive in your life at just the right time… from different paths but with the same unconditional love and both yours…completely and forever. They will stretch your heart in ways no one prepared you for, and in them, you’ll see strength, joy, and love, sometimes when you need it most.

There will be times when you question yourself. When you feel like you’ve failed, or that you’re broken, or that you’ve made too many mistakes, but I promise you: none of those things are true. You’re learning. You’re surviving. You’re growing into someone with an enormous capacity to love, again and again.

…and then, when you least expect it, love will find you in a new way. This time, it won’t just be about the butterflies or the beginnings — it will be about safety, about being seen, about being held exactly as you are. He will love you in ways you never even knew how to ask for, he’ll love you not just in words but in the way he holds space for you and you’ll finally understand what it means to be fully cherished. He’ll love you not in spite of your past, but because of everything you’ve become. He will see you, completely. Not just the polished parts, but all of you. The parts you’ve protected, the parts you thought no one could ever understand. He’ll love you more deeply than you ever thought possible, and you’ll realize: this is why you never settled …this is what you were waiting for. Not perfection, but real, patient, enduring love. With him, love will feel safe. Steady. Real. You’ll realize that what you went through wasn’t for nothing,it was leading you here…to this.

So don’t be afraid of the road ahead.

Don’t be afraid to fall, or to start over.  Don’t be ashamed of the detours. You’re going to learn that love isn’t about getting it right the first time, it’s about being brave enough to try again, and again …and again.

Every step is leading you somewhere important. Somewhere real.

Keep minding your business. Keep drinking your water. Keep being kind. Speak up when something feels wrong. Your voice matters, even when it shakes. Trust yourself. You matter. Be patient with yourself. Keep believing in love, even when it breaks you, because it will also heal you in ways you can’t yet imagine. Keep believing that good things are coming your way because they are…so many beautiful things.

I’m proud of you and I love you so so much.

Always,

Older Me
